- U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board Independent federal agency of the U.S. Government responsible for investigating the causes of and preventing commercial and industrial hazardous materials accidents. Chemical Incident Reports Center (CIRC) is searchable on-line worldwide database of incident reports.
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) The CDC, as it relates to occupational health and safety, maintains several departments, such as the Center for Injury Prevention and Control, and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health. As a source of information, it is on the same level as OSHA.
- National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) NIEHS conducts basic research on environmental health and environment-related diseases. Links to information on programs, grants, research, events, contracts, employment, training, outreach events, public information.
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration U.S. Department of Labor OSHA is the federal agency charged with safety and health codes for virtually all employers and employees in the United States, and to ensure that they comply. This should be the first place you look for factual information.
- National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) As part of the CDC, NIOSH is responsible for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work-related illnesses and injuries. And adhered to by the individual states OSHA offices.
