- University of the Highlands and Islands Collegiate university catering for the more remote northern regions of Scotland.
- Lunnasting Primary School Newly rebuilt school in Vidlin, north-east Mainland.
- Fair Isle School A one teacher school situated on Fair Isle, south of Shetland.
- Mid Yell Junior High School Site designed largely by the pupils for a school on the island of Yell (part of the Shetland Isles).
- Sandwick Junior High School Provides nursery, primary and secondary education for pupils living in the south of Shetland.
- Anderson High School Based in Lerwick, this school draws pupils from the surrounding area and the islands of Foula, Papa Stour, Fetlar and Fair Isle.
