- Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) ORNL conducts basic and applied research and development to create scientific knowledge and technological solutions in key areas of science; increase the availability of clean, abundant energy; restore and protect the environment; and contribute to national security. - Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) BNL creates and operates facilities for use by university, industrial, and government personnel in basic and applied research in the physical, biomedical, and environmental sciences, and in selected energy technologies. Located in Long Island, New York.
- New Brunswick Laboratory (NBL) NBL specializes in the measurement science of nuclear materials. - Ames Laboratory (AMES) Works in materials research, high-performance computing, and environmental science and management to find solutions to energy-related problems through the exploration of physics, chemistry, engineering, applied mathematics and materials sciences. Located in Ames, Iowa.
- Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory (KAPL) KAPL supports the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program by developing advanced propulsion technology, providing technical support for operating naval reactors, and providing training for naval personnel. Located in Niskayuna, New York.
- Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL) INEEL comprises nine major applied engineering, interim storage, and research and development facilities. Located between Idaho Falls and Arco, Idaho.
- Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (TJNAF or Jefferson Lab, formerly CEBAF) Jefferson Lab is a basic research laboratory built to probe the nucleus of the atom to learn more about the structure of matter. Located in Newport News, Virginia.
